Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian

Oil on canvas, 217 x 144 cm

The work is made with oil technique on canvas and depicts the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian, tied to a tree and pierced by several arrows, placed in the foreground against a landscape with classical buildings in the background.
It is painted with fast, definite technique without any particular meticulousness in terms of the detail. From what can be seen from a careful observation of the technique and the regrets present on the painting, it can be deduced that the sequence in order of execution of the pictorial drafts is:

1- Landscape

2- Figure of Saint Sebastian and the angels

3- Trunk and foliage of the tree – armaments of the Saint

4- Sky

5- Groups of figures in the distance on the sides of the saint
The signature of the author is present in the lower right corner of the painting, semi hidden by the decorative motifs present on the scabbard of the sword.
