Consolle
Rome or Naples, first half of the 18th century
102 x 172 x 78 cm

Console in gilded wood with antique green marble top resting on a moulded wooden band.
The upper central front is carved with a cherub head framed by scrolls and twisted acanthus leaves.
On the four upright legs and in the lower central cross there are grotesque heads, also framed by scrolls and large acanthus leaves. The gilding technique is of great quality and has been carried out on a white plaster and glue preparation of about 2 mm thickness on which the red bole is applied by brush and then sheets of gold leafing, with an alternation of opaque and shiny areas, depending on the presence or absence of surface burnishing (dabbled gilding)
