Saint Jerome penitent

Evocative and intimate vision of Saint Jerome in prayer.
The work in question is made with oil technique on canvas and depicts Saint Jerome lying inside the cave in adoration of the Crucifix; the composition of the scene and the position of the Saint are beyond the best-known iconography that sees him kneeling and in an act of prayer.
The painting is composed of fields made with wide and thin brushstrokes with a very realistic rendering in particular on the anatomical details of the Elder Saint Jerome.
