Alessandro Salucci - Capricci di Venezia

Alessandro Salucci
Florence 1590 – Rome 1655

Capricci di Venezia
Oil on canvas, 135 x 100 cm

Pair of paintings depicting seaport with architecture.  Contemporary frame.
To be attributed to the painter Alessandro Salucci, undisputed specialist of Roman architecture in Florence, whose lily is masterfully painted in the beautiful contemporary frames that accompany the works. Salucci’s artistic production focuses almost exclusively on the depiction of seaports, whose fantastic architectures are animated by numerous figures often executed in collaboration with the artists Michelangelo Cerquozzi (1602-1660), Jan Miel (1599-1663) and Johannes Lingelbach (1622-1674). From a compositional point of view, Salucci derives his representation of architecture from Viviano Codazzi (1604-1670) and the delicate golden atmosphere from Claude Lorrain (1600-1682).
